School Year Classes

We’re sorry we don’t have a spot that works for you right now. Please sign up on the Wait List, which you will see when you begin the enrollment process. Please contact us if you have questions. We’ll email you as soon as a spot opens up. We anticipate having quite a few more available spots beginning in January 2023.

Usually it works best for each student to have his/her own set of supplies. If your children are in the same class, they can share a set of paints, but they will each need their own set of brushes. They can share a sketch pad, eraser, and sharpener but will need their own drawing pencil and set of colored pencils.

Our studio is at 5042 Hearthstone Road, Roanoke,VA 24012. Our parking lot is accessed from Maitland Ave, which connects toAirport Road. You’ll see our signs from the parking lot. Sarah's studio is on the ground level in Studio A. Jason’s studio is upstairs in Studio B. Miss Gloria’s studio is in Studio C. To access Studio C, walk around to the front of the building. You’ll see a sign by the blue front door. Please park in the parking lot, and reserve the parking space on Hearthstone Road for quick drops only.

During the school year, if your child is unable to attend class, please let Shawn know as soon as possible. You will still be charged for that class. We make a commitment to be at each class each week. We ask that our students take their commitment to class seriously also. Make up classes are available for students who miss class out of necessity- e.g. illness, family emergency, school field trip. We understand and respect your decision to allow your child to miss class for other activities (parties, sporting events, plays, etc). However, because make up class slots are limited and because they fill up quickly, we may not always be able to offer a makeup for these“non-essential” types of absences. You will, however, still be charged for the missed class. On Fridays at 5pm, Jason offers a make up class for students who have missed their class and want to make it up. This class is limited to 5 students. Sarah offers make up classes on Fridays at 6:15. Gloria offers make up classes when she has availability. If you are interested in making up a class, please let Shawn know. If you have scheduled a make up time and miss the make up date or cancel the makeup date, that class can no longer be made up. Missed classes cannot be made up in the following semester.

You can pay online through the parent portal or by logging in to the Enrollsy app. You can pay with ACH (no additional fee) or by credit card (3% convenience fee added). If you prefer to pay by check, you’re welcome to bring your check to class or mail it to our mailing address: Fizer Fine Art, 250 Preston Ave NE, Roanoke, VA 24012. Please put your child’s name in the memo line. If you prefer to pay by cash, please put your payment in an envelope with your child’s name clearly written on the envelope.

Payment for classes is due on the first of the month for the entire month. Any invoice 10 days past due will incur a $15 late fee. Students with unpaid invoices 14 days past due will not be allowed to continue classes or to re-enroll in classes until it is paid in full. We reserve the right to discontinue classes for your child if payments are repeatedly late. This decision will be up to the discretion of Fizer Fine Art. If you encounter financial difficulties that make timely payment a real strain, please feel free to talk to us. There is a $25 charge for bounced checks or returned ACH payments. If your payment is repeatedly late, we reserve the right to require you to switch to Auto Pay.

We do. You’ll get a notice 5 days before your bill is due. You can view your invoice on your online account. AutoPay runs on the firsof each month.

We require a minimum of 3 weeks’ notice if you discontinue classes during the semester. If you fail to give notice, you will be charged for 3 weeks of classes while we try to fill your spot.

From time to time, your child will need to replace some supplies. When this happens, you will be notified and the replacement supplies will be included on your next invoice. We will have the supplies for your child at their next class. If you prefer to purchase the supplies on your own, please inform us.

An Authorized Pick Up Person is a student’s primary or secondary parent/guardian and whomever you specify when you register for classes. To ensure the safety of our students, we require that our students remain inside the studio until they are picked up by an authorized person. An authorized “pick up” person should text the instructor to say they are in the parking lot. When Mr. Fizer or Miss Gloria receives the text, they will allow the student to leave the studio.

In the case of inclement weather, we cancel class when we feel that the studio is not safely accessible within Roanoke City. When we cancel class, Elizabeth will credit you with a class the following month. If we hold class and you are unable to attend, it will be counted as a skip, but you will have the option to schedule a make up class. If we cancel class on a day you have a make up class, you will not be credited with a class, but Elizabeth will reschedule those classes.

We'll take the following days off class in 2023-24:

• Labor Day - September 4
• September 25-29 (ONLY Mr. Fizer's classes will take this off)
• October 27, 30 (ONLY Miss Sarah's classes will take this off)
• Thanksgiving - November 20-24
• Christmas - December 18 to January 2
• Spring Break - March 25-29 ‍
• Memorial Day - May 27

Classes will end on May 31, 2024.
